How it works

From the outlet to the bill, in four parts.

01 Outlet

The outlet

Each outlet has its own smart switch, which measures its electricity use. Residents know an outlet as a Bay. A QR label on the outlet shows which one it is: scan it to start.

02 Gateway

The Ampwise Gateway

The Gateway sits at the building. It collects measurements from the smart switches and passes them to Ampwise. If the internet drops, the Gateway keeps outlets as they were. It is designed to store readings for up to seven days and send them when the connection returns.

03 App

The app

Residents sign in at app.ampwise.energy to see usage, the price and bills.

04 Bill

The bill

Usage is allocated to the resident. The building receives records for reimbursement.

05 Roles

Who does what

  • Ampwise installs the service with a licensed electrician and supports it.
  • Residents use the outlet and pay for their usage.
  • The building asks Ampwise to invite residents or end access.
